Rock
music fans raise £800 for Burnham-On-Sea Gateway Club
Burnham-On-Sea
rock music fans have raised £800 for a charity in the town
which looks after people with learning difficulties.
Five
local bands held a special 12-hour concert, called 'Rock Skool',
in Burnham's Railway Inn earlier this month in aid of the town's
Gateway Club.
And
on Saturday evening (April 22nd), the proceeds were handed over
to club chairman Arthur Thorogood, club leader Barbara Thorogood
and treasurer Dave Evans.
Arthur
thanked everyone who had helped with the event and said the proceeds
would go a long way to funding a summer holiday for the club's
members in Seaton, Devon.
Arthur
is pictured receiving the cheque with Barbara and Dave, plus Gateway
Club members Steve Parsons and Stuart Robertson, Woody from 'Armitage
Shanks', Jason and Mike from 'Scarlett Room', Tim and Paul from
'Winkers' and Alan Gass - all of whom gave their services free.
Local
bands Vermin, Four Men On The Job and the Ginger Hitlas also took
part and many local businesses donated prizes for the raffle,
who were also thanked for their support.
