Police
helicopter search fails to find car thieves near Burnham-On-Sea

A
police helicopter was launched in a search for three car thieves
near Burnham-On-Sea on Monday night (February 26th).
The
force
helicopter pictured here carried out a search of land around Huntspill,
south of Highbridge, after a Renault car was reported stolen at
11pm.
"Three
youths abandoned the car and fled the scene and we decided to
call out the helicopter as back-up," police spokesman Wayne
Baker confirmed to Burnham-On-Sea.com.
"They
fled from the vehicle after leaving it in a pub car park."
"An
area of land and fields along Withy Road and besides the A38 were
searched, but it seems no trace of the culprits was found on this
occasion."
The
search was scaled down at around 11.30pm, and the vehicle was
taken away by police to be returned to its owner.
One
local resident, who asked not to be named, told Burnham-On-Sea.com:
"The helicopter sounded incredibly noisy at that time of
night. My wife and I were both quite concerned about what was
happening outside."
