Burnham-On-Sea hairdresser receives training award

-

A Burnham-On-Sea hairdresser has recently been recognised by the Business Enterprise Centre at Weston College for her work-based training achievements.

Rebecca Lester, 20, who manages the Waves & Shaves salon in Burnham, has been presented with an Outstanding Apprentice at Level 3 award sponsored by recycling and waste disposal expert SITA at Weston College’s Celebration of Success awards.

College Principal and Chief Executive, Dr Paul Phillips told the guests at the awards ceremony: “Rebecca’s confidence has no boundaries. She has exceeded all expectations in both theoretical and practical abilities, enabling her to achieve her goals. She has showed commitment, motivation and enthusiasm throughout her apprenticeship, which she completed while being employed at Waves & Shaves.”

Rebecca, who studied for an Advanced Apprenticeship in Hairdressing in association with the Business Enterprise Centre at Weston College, was presented with her award by Bristol-based BBC television presenter Susan Osman, who currently appears on BBC TV.

Susan was joined on the podium by Charles Garbett, Chair of Weston College’s Governors, and SITA’s General Manager, David Ward. Young adults wishing to find out more about Apprenticeships or businesses and individuals wishing to find out more about NVQs and other training courses should call the Business Enterprise Centre on 01934 411594.
