Anger as Highbridge’s historic town clock is damaged by vandals

-

Highbridge’s historic three-sided clock has been struck by vandals who have smashed one of its glass faces, as pictured here.

Highbridge town councillor Joe Leach told Burnham-On-Sea.com on Monday (June 30th): “It’s very sad that someone would damage this wonderful clock, which has been a part of Highbridge’s history for many decades.”

“I reassure everyone that work is due to start shortly on getting it repaired. It can’t stay in its current condition for very long.”

“It is one of the few parts of ‘old Highbridge’ that has stayed untouched during recent years.”

He urged anyone with information about how the structure was damaged to contact police through the usual Crimestoppers telephone number on 0800 555 111.
