In photos: First Play Ranger sessions begin at Highbridge's Apex Park

The first of a series of 'Play Ranger' sessions which encourage children aged five and over to take part in outdoor activity play sessions was held at Highbridge's Apex Park on Wednesday (September 24th).

The sessions are aimed at helping children have fun outdoors and join in activities such as sports, den building and other games.

Sedgemoor District Council is operating the scheme with funding from the Big Lottery while The Children’s Society, in conjunction with Barnardos South West, is managing the service.

The first taster session was held on Wednesday afternoon and then from October 1st, the sessions will become weekly and be held at the same time, from 4-6pm.

"Sedgemoor District Council has a duty to increase participation in PE and sport and to tackle obesity in young children along with other government agencies under the Local Area Agreement themes," council spokeswoman Claire Faun told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
