Helicopter search above Brean leads to arrest of wanted man

A police helicopter and dogs were involved in a four-hour search in Brean in the early hours of Tuesday morning (August 5th).

Police cars cordoned off roads and the force's helicopter (pictured) carried out sweeps of the village with its infra-red camera after a wanted man was reported to be in the village.

Police spokesman Dan Mountain told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "Officers were called after reports of suspicious activity in a car in South Road. Subsequent investigations led to the arrest of a 21-year-old man from Plymouth who was wanted on recall from prison. He currently remains in custody in Bridgwater."

It is understood that the man's car had also been checked and seized for having no insurance. A further search around the Brean Golf Course area was carried out to find other males and enquiries are ongoing.
