Over 80 homes near
Burnham left
without power after cable fault
Work
to restore electricity to 80 homes in East Huntspill, near Burnham-On-Sea,
was underway on Sunday (March 16th) after a "major cable
fault".
Dozens
of homes were left in the dark for almost six hours after an underground
power cable fault developed in the early hours of the morning.
Four
more homes were still without power until 7.30pm on Sunday evening.
Western
Power Distribution spokesman John Hulme told Burnham-On-Sea.com:
"I can confirm we've been working on a major cable fault
in East Huntspill which was initially reported to us at 2.36am."
"The
bulk of the 80 customers affected were re-connected within a few
hours, but four were not back on until 7.30pm."
Heavy
rain on Saturday had caused water to seep into a cable, causing
it to fail. The company apologised for the inconvenience caused.
