Burnham-On-Sea
art gallery puts top Somerset photographers in focus
Stunning
landscapes and breathtaking scenes of wildlife are on show at
a new photography exhibition that has just opened in Burnham-On-Sea
this week.
The
exhibition at Seabreeze Gallery in Victoria Street features landscape,
flora and fauna photographs by Tony Howell plus landscape and
wildlife photographs by James Flynn.
Tony
Howell is one of England's best-known landscape photographers,
and is
based in Somerset.
His
style is instantly recognisable - simple, uncluttered compositions
and an overall sense of peace and stillness borne out of his deep
love of the land. His
images have been used in countless books, calendars, magazines
and more. His clients include the BBC, Christies, Royal Mail,
The Tate and The National Trust.
"For
this exhibition he brings together a collection of his favourite
landscape photographs. Large and medium sized pieces of West Country
imagery plus flowers. Some printed on photo paper, some canvas
and one printed onto acrylic," the gallery's Rhonda Mills
told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
James
Flynn's interest in natural history initially led to him using
photography to record his observations. His enthusiasm for the
medium and the effects of light on his subjects at different times
of the day have led him to achieve a broad portfolio of images
of the British Landscape and its wildlife. This exhibition shows
samples of his work that characterize the style and quality of
his artwork.
Opening
hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 10am- 5.30pm, Wednesday
10am-2pm, and Saturday 10am-3pm. The exhibition can be seen up
to and including Saturday 29th November 2008.
