Volunteers
wanted to marshall Burnham-On-Sea's Triathlon
Final
preparations for this year's Burnham-On-Sea Triathlon on Sunday
June 1st are underway.
Hundreds
of competitors have signed up to take part in the annual event,
which consists of a 500m swim followed by a 20km cycle and a 5km
beach run.
The
organisers have this week issued an appeal to local residents
to come forward who could spare a few hours on the day to help
marshall the race.
"We
need marshalls to help with the drink stations and monitor the
bike compound," organiser Rob Semple told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
"They
need to be free between 7.45am and 2pm, need to be aged over 16,
although several youngsters can be accommodated to man one of
the drink stations."
"All
volunteers will recieve a free burger and drink on the day. Any
help will be greatly appreciated."
The
Triathlon was under threat at the beginning of the year when the
town's swimming pool faced closure, but when its future was secured
last month, the popular event was also saved. Rob can be contacted
on 07515 173603.
