Highbridge’s Apex Park receives £2,600 community grant windfall

-

Highbridge’s Friends of Apex Park Improvements Group has this week been awarded a £2,615 grant from the Somerset Community Foundation.

£1,615 will be spent on providing events and workshops for both adults and children throughout 2009 at the park and a further £1,000 will be spent on activities for children on National Play Day, which this year will be held on 5th August.

“Activities throughout the year include family and children’s events and workshops, such as Punch and Judy shows, and creative writing workshops that are designed to encourage children to write and stimulate their imagination,” explained a spokeswoman to Burnham-On-Sea.com.

The creative writing workshops will be held at Apex Park’s Information Point on Friday 20th February from 10am-12.30pm.

“The morning will consist of word games, writing and poetry for 7-13 year olds with a friendly, professional tutor. If the weather is good, they will be taken outside to be inspired by the lake and park, so make sure they are wrapped up warmly, wearing sensible shoes or wellingtons,” added the spokeswoman.

To book a place for your child or for further information, contact Marina Dunstone at Sedgemoor District Council on 01278 435512. Places are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
