More than 50 runners finish
first of three Burnham-On-Sea Aquathons
More
than 50 athletes took part in the first of three Burnham-On-Sea
Aquathons being held this year at the town's Swim and Sports Academy
on Sunday (March 8th).
Steve
Ferguson from Plymouth won the event, comprising a 500m swim and
a 5km run, in a fast time of 28 minutes and 19 seconds.
Local
runner Matt Freeman was the first Burnham athlete home in a time
of 31 minutes and 38 seconds.
The
full list of finishers and their times is available here.
Three
Burnham Aquathons of varying distances are being held this year,
instead of the normal one race. Organiser Martin Rogers explained
to Burnham-On-Sea.com: "We've decided to split the event
up into three so that there is an event for every ability."
"The
shortest race was held on Sunday and the second race on March
29th will be a 750m swim and a 7km run. The third Aquathon will
be held on April 19th and will be a 1,000m swim and a 10km run."
"We
welcome entries for one, two or even all three events - there
are no restrictions other than a minimum age of 15."
Entry
forms can be picked up from the Swim and Sports Academy in Berrow
Road or by calling 01278 785909.
Entry
fees cost £15 per individual race for British Triathlon
Members and £18 for non-members.
Entries
for all the races are £39 (British Triathlon Members) and
£48 (non-members). Each race is limited to 120 competitors.
