Ninety one years to the day since the First World War came to an end, residents across the Burnham-On-Sea area marked Armistice Day on Wednesday (November 11th).
Shops and businesses across Burnham fell silent at 11am to join in the nationwide two minutes of silence.
The Union Jack was raised at the corner of Pier Street, where Burnham’s Mayor laid a wreath during a ceremony watched by residents.
And in Highbridge, a short ceremony was held at Southwell House Memorial Gardens, where wreaths were laid by the Town’s Mayoress, Christine Cooper, and Deputy Mayor Danny Titcombe. A short service was conducted by the Rev Andrew Jackson and Rev Christine Judson.
There were similar scenes in Pawlett, where Burnham police inspector Roger Tolley was among those joining a ceremony in front of residents and schoolchildren. Our photos show the scenes in Pawlett and Highbridge.
