A Burnham-On-Sea man was taken to hospital after suffering a suspected broken ankle in an accident on local sand dunes on Thursday (June 18th).

An ambulance and Coastguards were called to Berrow beach on Thursday after the man stumbled and fell.

Dave Rogers, spokesman for South West Ambulance, confirmed to Burnham-On-Sea.com: "A 40 year-old male suffered an injury after falling."

"He was treated in the sand dunes at the scene and then taken on to Weston General Hospital for further attention."

A team of Coastguards from Burnham-On-Sea were also called to the scene, but were stood down when it became clear the man was able to be taken away without assistance.
