Novelty cake wins award for Burnham-On-Sea school chef

-

This colourfully decorated cake has won a Burnham-On-Sea school chef a top award in a culinary competition.

Wendy Bishop, Catering Manager at St Andrew’s Junior School in Burnham, has been awarded a Gold award for her Decorated Celebration Cake.

It came after a number of talented school chefs from across Somerset took part in the ‘Finishing Touches’ competition, organised by LACA, the Local Authority Caterers Association.

The competition was judged by senior officials from The Craft Guild of Chefs, who were extremely impressed at the skill level shown throughout the competition.

They commented that they would like to see school chefs rewarded for their efforts by competing at a national level alongside fellow catering professionals.
