Candle-lit protest over climate change held in Burnham-On-Sea

A candle-lit protest was held in Burnham-On-Sea on Saturday evening (December 12th) when local residents joined a campaign for a stronger global climate treaty.

Highbridge resident Ben Metcalfe organised the gathering on Burnham seafront, as pictured here.

He told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "It went well - the candles stayed alight and the police didn't move us on!"

"The turn-out wasn't that huge, but we also got some interested passers-by to stop and join in. It was a heart-warming event on a cold December evening."

He said the aim of the protest had been to remind everyone exactly what a few feet of sea-level rise would mean for the Somerset Levels, and add voices to the pressure on Copenhagen.
