-

Burnham-On-Sea’s new Carnival Queen and two Princesses will be chosen at a ceremony in the town this evening (Friday July 31st).

Organisers have received six entries for the position of Queen and 13 entries for the role of Princesses.

This year’s event, to pick the winning Queen and Princesses, is being held at Burnham’s Ritz Social Club. It is being organised by Burnham-On-Sea Lions Club.

The judges are Julie West and Charlie Bird from N-Hance, Anya Burridge from Purr-fect Pottery, Malcolm Borland from the Highbridge and Burnham-On-Sea Carnival Association, and Colin Rufus from Burnham Lions Club.

A pre-contest briefing will start at 7.15pm and judging will commence at 8.00pm, followed by an evening of entertainment. The whole show will be hosted by Russell Dyson with music provided by DJ Paul Hale. Admission will cost £3.00 by ticket, available from Home Hardware or on the door.

The Queen and Princesses will be crowned on the night and later professionally photographed for the Carnival Programme. They will lead the Carnival Procession on Monday 9th November 2009 and present awards to the winning floats on Presentation Night.
