up now for the annual Burnham-On-Sea
to Brean beach walk!
A
charity beach walk from Burnham-On-Sea jetty to Brean Down and
back is set to be held on Sunday May 31st to raise money for the
Alzheimer's Society.
This
year's 15-mile Brean Challenge will start at 11am in Burnham and
organisers expect it to take around 4-5 hours.
The
event's organiser, Mike Barsby, has set himself a fundraising
target of £10,000 for the Alzheimers Society over
the next 18 months. He is also planning to complete a high altitude
trek to Everest base camp in October 2010.
"Previous
beach walks have been very enjoyable with a relaxed atmosphere
and a good mix of people of all ages and abilities," Mike
told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
"Everyone
is welcome - including sponsored dogs - and it's a great opportunity
to enjoy parts of our beach that you may not have seen before."
"Apart
from enjoying the exercise and the company of others, the main
purpose is to beat last year's total of £2,100."
He
added that a shorter alternative walk will be available from the
entrance to Berrow Beach and return of 7.5 miles.
