Hovercraft
pull raises funds for Burnham-On-Sea charity

A
two-mile sponsored pull of Burnhams rescue hovercraft through
the streets of Brean raised hundreds of pounds for BARB, the charity
behind the life-saving rescue service, on Sunday (September 27th).
The
Light Of Elizabeth hovercraft and its tow truck were tugged along
Coast Road by a hardy group of country music fans, led by members
of Chevron Country Music Club, who organised the event during
Brean's Country Music Festival.
Starting
at Brightholme Holiday Park, the group made their way through
the centre of Brean, finishing at the Beachcomber Inn.
Organiser
Barbara Newman said the group's collection tins had been rattling
all along the route.
"We
had great support and would like to thank everyone who donated
today," she said.
"BARB
is an excellent cause and the Westerners have raised many thousands
of pounds for it over the years."
All
the funds raised will go towards the costs of maintaining BARB's
equipment and training its volunteer crew.
