New Burnham-On-Sea loyalty shopping scheme is on the cards

-

Shoppers in Burnham-On-Sea could soon be able to support local traders, earn discounts and help a local charity by using a brand new loyalty shopping card.

The town’s Chamber of Trade has been discussing the innovative scheme with fundraisers from the Friends of Burnham War Memorial Hospital in recent weeks and the scheme is set to be formally unveiled at a traders meeting later this month.

The proposals would see residents buying the loyalty card – raising money for the town’s hospital. Card holders would then qualify for discounts at participating shops and businesses along Burnham High Street.

Chamber of Trade Deputy Chairman Tom Ashton told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We’ve held very positive talks about the scheme. The card would encourage residents to shop in the town while also helping businesses during the recession and raising money for the town’s hospital.”

More details about of the proposed scheme are set to be announced at Burnham Chamber of Trade’s meeting later this month at 6pm on October 20th in the Somerset & Dorset pub in the High Street.

The proposed loyalty scheme is not the only one in Burnham. Kyffins, the health food shop in Victoria Street, recently started its own scheme and lets shoppers donate a small proportion of their overall bill to a local charity of their choice. Also, Crowdy’s coffee shop in College Street has a scheme to reward customers with free coffee.
