70 metre tall weather monitoring mast proposed for West Huntspill

-

The company which plans to build several new wind turbines near Burnham-On-Sea has submitted a planning application for a 70 metre tall weather monitoring mast.

Next Generation Limited, which is part of the Ecotricity group, wants the go-ahead from Sedgemoor District Council to construct the huge temporary meteorological monitoring mast on land at Pawlett Road in West Huntspill.

In its application, the company’s project developer Victoria Allen says: “The mast will be used to monitor actual wind speeds on the site, providing data that will aid forecasting energy generation of the proposed wind park on the site.”

“We are satisfied that the wind speed at the site is suitable for wind power development. The mast will be a temporary installation only, with a maximum expected duration of 18 months.”

Residents have until February 2nd to give feedback on the scheme to Sedgemoor District Council. Consultation began on December 23rd.

Burnham-On-Sea.com first reported in October on the proposed wind farm at West Huntspill.
