New
charitable trust formed to look after Burnham's
Princess Hall
A
new charitable trust is being set-up in Burnham-On-Sea to look
after the town's Princess Hall - and business-minded local residents
are being sought to help.
The
Friends of the Princess is creating the trust as part of its work
to try and secure the future of the hall as a community facility.
Sedgemoor
District Council has confirmed that it intends to award a contract,
in accordance with European Legislation, for the future operation
of the Princess.
The
Friends group, which was formed
in March, has told Burnham-On-Sea.com that it intends to compete
for the contract in order to operate the hall - and that it is
seeking the help of local residents.
"The
Friends are now looking for business-minded people to act as the
operator of the Princess, including running a licensed facility
within the building," a spokesman for the group told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
Anyone
interested in the commercial aspects of the Princess, as part
of the bid to Sedgemoor District Council from the Friends' Charitable
Trust, should send a written expression of interest to Friends
of the Princess, C/O The Princess, Princess Street, Burnham-On-Sea,
TA8 1EH, for discussion at their next meeting, to reach the 'Friends'
by Sunday 10th May, 2009.
The
Friends are also seeking volunteers to help with fundraising and
events. Anyone interested should contact Mike Lang on 07889 815860
or via the above address.
Various
posts have also been announced by the Friends group. The Chairman's
role is now occupied by John Holmes, Vice Chairman is Tom Ashton,
Minutes secretary and Marketing Manager is Vikki Hart and PR Manager
is Mike Lang.
