Plans to build five new homes in Burnham are rejected by council

-

Plans to build five new homes in Burnham-On-Sea have been turned down by Sedgemoor District Council.

A planning application to build the homes on land at 13 Rectory Road was initially turned down by the council last June, but the land owners submitted an appeal against the decision last November.

But this week, the appeal has been dismissed – effectively putting an end to the proposals.

“Rectory Road is characterised by large detached properties usually with large garden areas. The proposed accommodation would not reflect or respect this existing character and represents a gross overdevelopment,” explained a district council spokesman.

The planning authority said it also had concerns about privacy and overlooking issues, plus several badgers setts within or near the proposed site.
