New Burnham-On-Sea road will retain church hall link

-

Town councillors in Burnham-On-Sea have approved proposals to name a new road after a church hall that was demolished earlier this year to make way for a development of flats.

Burnham County Councillor Peter Burridge-Clayton proposed that a new access road running alongside the site of the former St Peter’s Hall in Highbridge Road should be named ‘Saints Close’ – and the proposal was this week approved by fellow town councillors.

Peter, pictured here at the site, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “I feel it is important to maintain links with the history of this area and given that Saint Peter is already recognised in the area, I felt Saints Close would be appropriate.”

“I am pleased my collegues supported my proposal and look forward to the completion of the development.”

Burnham-On-Sea.com reported last December that Sedgemoor District Council had given planning approval to Raglan Homes to demolish St Peter’s Hall, which is located opposite Burnham’s Catholic Church, to make way for the new flats.
