Beach
kiting group gives Burnham-On-Sea hovercraft charity a boost
Beach
kiting enthusiasts at Brean have raised hundreds of pounds for
the charity which operates Burnham-On-Sea's rescue hovercrafts.
The
South West Association of Traction Kiting (SWATK) held its annual
get-together in the resort last week and raised £227 for
BARB, the charity that operates two life-saving hovercrafts.
SWATK
Chairman Alistair McHardy said: "Over sixty members of our
group from across the region gathered in Brean and we held a barbecue,
collections and a car boot sale for BARB."
"We
were keen to see all the money put to good use locally, so BARB
was the clear choice. Our members use Brean beach frequently for
traction kiting and it is very reassuring to know that BARB is
there to help should anyone get into difficulty."
