Highbridge father breaks
into vehicle to free trapped
children

A
distraught Highbridge father had to smash one of the windows of
his car to free two young children after they accidentally
became
trapped inside.
Dominic Walcott received a frantic phone call from his girlfriend
on Tuesday morning (January 27th) after 21 month old Mia and 19
month old Travis got locked inside the family's Vauxhall Vectra.
Dominic,
who works at a local car repair firm, joined a colleague in rushing
to the vehicle in Grange Avenue and, after trying uncessfully
to unlock it, they smashed a window to gain access and free the
anxious children inside.
He
told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "The keys had been left in the car
and one of the children had inadvertently leant against the door
lock, triggering the central locking mechanism."
"We
tried to get in without causing any damage to the car, but after
several minutes both the children were getting anxious and one
had become wedged between the passenger seats."
"I
grabbed a hammer and smashed the window to get inside and I'm
relieved to say neither child was hurt."
