Burnham air
cadets join Polish Armed Forces Day ceremony
Members
of Burnham-On-Sea's 290 Air Squadron have been taking part in
a Polish Armed Forces Day to pay their respects to Polish servicemen
who assisted the Allies during the Second World War.
During the ceremony, which was organised by Avon and Somerset
Constabulary, those present paid their respects to three Polish
Airmen who are laid to rest at the Commonwealth War Graves in
Weston Cementry.
The service was designed to involve the growing Polish population
in the town, together with the Royal British Legion and Royal
Air Forces Association.
Flt Lt Steve Manville told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "It was great
to have been invited to provide the guard of honour for the service,
especially during this, the 70th anniversary year of the Battle
of Britain."
290
Squadron Air Training Corps is based in Burnham at the Cadet Centre
on Highbridge Road (TA8 1LN) and meets every Tuesday and Thursday
between 7.30pm and 9.45pm.
