Berrow beach to close for BBC TV film crew on Monday

-

Berrow beach will be closed to the public throughout the day on Monday (October 11th ) to allow a BBC TV crew to film a children’s TV programme.

Scenes for a new drama series for kids channel CBBC called Sparticles will be filmed on the beach and dunes.

The beach and sand dunes will be temporarily shut to the public between 8am and 5pm, but Berrow Nature Reserve Car Park will remain open as usual.

“The programme will follow a group of children surviving alone in the world after all the adults have disappeared due to a scientific experiment going wrong. As the world is meant to deserted in the show, the film crew want to have the beach as clear of people as possible,” Sedgemoor District Council’s Tim Mander, who oversees the management of Berrow beach, told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

Sparticles is a 13-week series due for transmission on CBBC from January 2011.
