Hundreds of bikers roar through Burnham area in support of rally

The car park at Sedgemoor Services, near Burnham-On-Sea, was alive with the sounds of roaring motorbikes last week when a group of charity bikers gathered.

The 200 bikers were en-route to Wooton Bassett in Wiltshire to join a mass bike ride in support of the Afghan Heroes and mothers who have lost sons in the conflict.

The group, known as Bikers Make a Difference, or BMAD, gathered from various locations in the South West.

Committee member Stef Hobbs told "BMAD are a fundraising group who raise money for disabled children to supply equipment that the NHS don’t supply."

"We have given up our mothers day treats to honour the mothers who have lost their children."

Formed in 2002, the Paignton-based group hold regular charity events, along with their well-known bike festival, raising money for popular charities such as The Air Ambulance and St John Ambulance.
