Huge crowd turns out for dazzling Burnham-On-Sea Carnival
A huge crowd of over 20,000 people lined the streets
of Burnham-On-Sea on Monday (November 8th) as dozens of illuminated
carnival floats rolled through town.
Over
90 carts and entertainers wowed the spectators with a cavalcade
of colour and excitement.
This
year's Carnival Queen Anna Kevan and her princesses, Burnham girls
Katrina Doyle and Agatha Parrott, led the procession, as pictured.
Best
entry in the procession was judged to be Gremlin's Carnival Club's
Runaway Train.
Some of the biggest cheers of the night were for Burnham's
Hillview Juvenile Carnival Club, whose theatrical-themed float,
The Show, won second place in the juvenile class behind Marina
Sydenham's Africa, but won the Best Local Entry award.
Malcolm
Borland, President of the Carnival Association told Burnham-On-Sea.com:
"We're delighted with how the event went."
Huge
crowds braved wet weather to line the route of the carnival, which
wended its way along Love Lane, Manor Road, Victoria Street, The
High Street and ended in Marine Drive.
