New community choir formed by residents in Burnham-On-Sea

Dozens of local people have formed a new community choir in Burnham-On-Sea.

Almost 50 people attended the group's first singing session at Burnham Community Centre in Berrow Road - and a further session is now being planned for next month.

The group's leader Peter Olsen told he was delighted with the turnout at the first session.

"All the music was learnt by ear and repetition - quite a challenge for many of us - and there was not a sheet of music in sight."

"We went on to go through the basics of singing technique and two-part, three-part and four-part harmonies."

"A mark of the success of the evening was that only two of the 49 decided that it wasn't for them. We look forward to meeting the other 47 in the New Year, along with any newcomers."
