Long-running Burnham confectionery shop set to close

-

A long-running confectionery shop in Burnham-On-Sea town centre is to close down and move to Cheddar at the end of this month after eight busy years.

Roly’s Fudge shop in Burnham High Street – which was recently named Mister Fudge – is shutting down, its owner Jonathan Walter said this week.

“It’s with a heavy heart that we have started a closing down sale. We’ve had eight great years in Burnham but the cost of trading from such large premises is no longer viable,” he told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“It’s unfortunate that the sale of our shop will be concluded before we have managed to secure a new smaller shop in Burnham to make our fudge.”

He added: “If all goes to plan, the shop should be closed by the end of June.”

“We have been offered a small unit in Cheddar to continue trading, but as soon as a suitable premises becomes available in Burnham we hope to return to our home town.”

“We would like to take this opportinity to thank all our customers past present and future for their business. It’s also been very heart warming to hear so many kind comments from visitors and locals since we put the closing down signs up.”
