Country and western musician George Hamilton IV – who used to tour with Buddy Holly and the Everly Brothers – was the special guest at a one-off concert in a Burnham-On-Sea church on Tuesday evening (February 23rd).

Pastor Kelton Black welcomed the singer to Burnham Baptist Church in College Street, as pictured, where almost 200 people gathered to hear watch him perform.

Kelton told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We were delighted to welcome George into Burnham for this special peformance – he gave a superb performance which was enjoyed by everyone.”

After his first hit ‘A Rose and a Baby Ruth’ in 1956, George toured with Buddy Holly and the Everly Brothers. His top ten country singles ‘Before This Day Ends’ and ‘If You Don’t Know I Ain’t Gonna Tell You’ were followd by 1963’s ‘Abilene’, which topped the country music charts for four weeks.

“It’s great to return here to Burnham,” said George. “I’ve been to the town several times before and always get a warm welcome from my friends here. It’s a great place.”
