Man punched and kicked during Highbridge street attack

Police have appealed for witnesses following an assault in Highbridge in the early hours of Sunday morning (July 11th).

The incident occurred in Newtown Road when a man was punched in the face and kicked to the ground.

“The victim was approached by a group of males aged approximately 17-18 years outside of his address in Newtown Road after he became aware that they had caused damage to his car,” PC Brett Powell told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“After approaching the males, they allegedly attacked the victim by punching him in the face and kicking him to the ground.”

The victim was taken to Weston General Hospital with suspected fractured ribs and was later released. He sustained bruised ribs, cuts to his hands and face and marks to his chest.

The offenders fled the scene, and police are interested in hearing from anyone who saw the incident or has information about those at the scene. To help police enquiries, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
