Excitement grows for town carnival club as big day approaches
is growing at Burnham-On-Sea's carnival club this week as the
youngsters who will performing on the town's cart have been holding
their final dress rehearsals.
just days to go until the start of the carnival season, Hillview
Carnival Club's sixteen young members onboard the club's theatrical-themed
float, called The Show, have been proudly showing off their colourful
costumes, as pictured.
club's costumes have been created by volunteers Lyn Burland and
Tina Marshall, who spent almost three months stitching the clothes
Bishop, one of the youngsters on the float, told Burnham-On-Sea.com:
"I've been working on the choreography on the float and they've
all done so well. We can't wait for it to begin."
And Chloe Bennett, 8, added: "It's my first year on the
cart and it's very exciting. It will be great."
Meanwhile, Hillview's team have been working around the clock
to get their cart ready in time for the Bridgwater Carnival this
Friday (November 5th).
The huge cart has cost £12,000 to build and has 35 moving
parts. It is decorated with over 10,000 lights, half of which
After Bridgwater Carnival, the cart will travel to North Petherton
Carnival on Saturday before coming home to Burnham on Monday,
Hillview has high hopes of repeating its success
of last year, when it won the County Cup, after wins at every
event along the Guy Fawkes Carnival Circuit.
