New daily jetty permits launched in Burnham-On-Sea

Sea-going visitors to Burnham-On-Sea can now launch a boat from the town’s jetty without having to buy a year-long launch permit.

A brand new day permit has been introduced this month by Sedgemoor District Council to cater for occasional visitors who want to launch vessels, such as fishing boats or jet skis, on the town’s beach.

The new day permit costs £10 while the charge for a year-long pass, running from April 2010 to April 2011, remains at £50.

Sedgemoor’s Resort Officer Graham Newing told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "We’ve had a good look at the costs of launch permits and by popular demand have introduced the day permit for occasional visitors."

"The cost of the annual permit has not been increased this year and is actually good value compared to many other launch sites around the country."

The new permits are on sale at Burnham Tourist Information Centre on The Esplanade.
