Two hurt in multi-vehicle accident on M5 at Burnham-On-Sea

-

Two people were rushed to hospital following a multi-vehicle accident on the M5 motorway at Burnham’s junction 22 early on Tuesday morning (April 27th).

Emergency services were called to the southbound carriageway at 12.14am after a lorry crashed into a car, leaving it on its side. Fire crews released the lorry driver from his cab so that he could be treated by ambulance crews.

A second accident behind the lorry saw two vehicles colliding in the outside lane of the carriageway in which two people were trapped. Fire crews removed the roof of the car to remove the two occupants inside.

Ambulance spokesman Dave Rogers told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Two people – a man in his 50s and a lady in her 80s – required hospital treatment and were taken to Musgrove Hospital by ambulance.”

The accident led to delays for motorists on the motorway, as pictured, while emergency crews dealt with the incident.
