Exhibition of Burnham-On-Sea art raises money for Indian school

-

An exhibition of paintings and photos by local artists in Burnham-On-Sea raised more than £200 for an Indian school when it was held on Saturday (December 4th).

Dozens of people attended the ‘R-Tex’ and bric-a-brac sale at Burnham’s Baptist Church in College Street to raise money for the Peter Gilliard Memorial School in India.

Among the artwork on display was local artist Susan Yard’s impressive Burnham beach scene, shown right, which is made entirely of wool and has taken three months to produce.

“The event was well supported by artists and visitors and we thank everyone who helped us raise a total of £233,” organiser Jayne Feltham told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

The Peter Gilliard Memorial School in Rajahmundry, India is named after Highbridge resident Peter Gilliard who died in 2002.
