Subway
store in Burnham-On-Sea wants to stay open until 3am
Burnham-On-Sea's
recently-opened Subway store wants a new premises licence so that
it can open until 3am on Fridays and Saturdays - but a group of
local residents has objected to the proposals.
Mike
Bond, the owner of the Burnham franchise, has applied to Sedgemoor
District Council for the store to serve refreshments on Fridays
and Saturdays from 11am to 3am. He also wants to open between
Sunday and Thursday from 11pm to midnight.
Members
of the district council's licensing panel are due to consider
the application at their next meeting on Wednesday February 10th.
Licensing
officer Tony Baker told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "The application
has given rise to objections from residents in the form of a petition
of 16 names and from the town council on behalf of local residents.
Concerns
centre around disturbances, disorder and noise from persons attracted
to the area."
Subway
opened in Burnham on January 21st, more than a year after its
search first started to find suitable premises in the town centre.
