-

Fast food giant Subway has opened its new High Street store in Burnham-On-Sea this morning (Thursday, January 21st).

The business opened to the public at 21 The High Street following a £140,000 investment by Burnham franchise holder Mike Bond and his son Lee, pictured above.

Mr Bond told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We’re delighted to have officially opened our doors after a great deal of work over several months to get everything ready.”

He added that the store is also offering free wireless Internet access, enabling customers to follow the latest local news on Burnham-On-Sea.com during their visit.

Ten new jobs have been created at the store, following scores of applications for the positions.

Subway, which sells hot sandwiches called ‘subs’, has opened in Burnham after a long search for a premises in the town. Its store has opened in place of the former Palmers butchers shop, which shut down last summer.

Subway is the world’s largest sandwich franchise, with over 30,000 locations in 88 countries and over 1,400 in the UK and Ireland.
