New
Burnham disabled swimming facilities opened by Mayor
Burnham-On-Sea's
Mayor was among the special guests at the official unveiling of
a set of brand new disabled swimming facilities at the town's
pool on Wednesday morning (February 3rd).
Burnham's
Medical Equipment Fund has donated £2,100 towards the purchase
of the specialised steps, which allow disabled swimmers to use
the pool at the Swim and Sports Academy in Berrow Road.
Tom
Ashton, Chairman of the Medical Equipment Fund, told Burnham-On-Sea.com:
"The previous steps were more than twenty years old and urgently
needed replacing, so we are happy to help."
He
added: "The steps have been handed over to Burnham's Disabled
Swimming Club, whose members are delighted that the pool is now
easier than ever to use."
Burnham's
Mayor Derick Cooper and Mayoress Christine Cooper attended Wednesday's
ceremony along with John Hodgson and Tom Ashton from the Medical
Equipment Fund, plus members of the swimming club, as pictured
here.
