Beach aquathlon hailed a runaway success by organisers!

More than 60 athletes took part in the latest Burnham-On-Sea seafront aquathlon on Sunday morning (March 27th).

The popular event, which was organised by Burnham Swim and Sports Academy, comprised of a 500 metre swim at Burnham Pool followed by a 5km run along the beach and seafront.

Del Pitcher from Police Sport UK won the event in a fast time of 28 minutes and 52 seconds. He was 15 seconds ahead ahead of Burnham relay team Frances Palmer and Jayne Ashurst in second place. Full results are available here.

Four separate children’s Splash N’ Dash races were also well supported, with 64 youngsters taking part.

The under 10s swam 75 metres and ran 750 metres, while those aged 11+ swam 150 metres and ran 1,500 metres. The full results are available here: Girls 10 & Under | Boys 10 & Under | Girls 11 & Over | Boys 11 & Over

“The event was well supported by competitors from across the area,” the academy’s Mark Conklin told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
