Burnham youth centre launches ‘save the roof’ fundraising appeal

-

Burnham-On-Sea Area Youth Centre has this week launched a new ‘save the roof’ fundraising appeal.

Built in 1966, the youth centre’s roof is starting to experience occasional leaks during heavy rain.

A working party has joined the management committee to spend a lot of time keeping the roof watertight, but the decision has been taken to get it fully repaired.

“To this purpose, the trustees have elected a sub-committee to apply for grant funding, with instructions to coordinate repair of the roof, and keep the BAY centre watertight for many years to come,” BAY Centre Chairwoman Julia Elswood told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“The project plan is in the initial stage with applications for major funding having been submitted, and minor plans to raise money for the expected balance needed to meet the conditions of the major grant.”

A request for support has been circulated amongst local fundraising support organisations. The Town Council has already pledged £200.

Groups within the BAY Centre will be organising a fundraising fun day at the centre soon.
