Updated: Two injured in crash in Burnham-On-Sea's Berrow Road

Two people were taken to hospital following a two-car crash which closed Burnham-On-Sea's Berrow Road for over three hours on Tuesday evening (May 3rd).

Police, fire and ambulance crews were called to the scene just after 6pm after two Peugeot cars collided head-on, as pictured here.

Fire crews from Burnham and Weston were called to the scene and the roof of one of the vehicles was removed to free a trapped person inside.

An eyewitness at the scene told that a man had been put into a neck brace and placed on a spinal board.

He and the driver of the other car were taken by ambulance to Weston General Hospital for treatment for injuries that were not life-threatening.

Berrow Road was closed by police either side of the accident at the junctions of Rectory Road and Stoddens Road until 9.35pm while the emergency services were on scene and a police investigation is now underway into what happened.

Amulance spokesman Dave Rogers told "We were called at 6.09pm and two people were taken to Weston General Hospital by ambulance."
