video: Carnival carts arrive early in Burnham following M5 accident

The decision to cancel North Petherton's event was taken
by organisers following advice from police, fire, Highways Agency
and ambulance bosses who have been dealing with the tragic accident
on the M5 which has claimed the lives of at least seven people,
as reported here.
The carts therefore arrived from Bridgwater into Burnham-On-Sea
half a day earlier than usual.
The work to move them began at 2pm and the first cart to arrive
was Lime Kiln's entry, Infernus, shortly after 4pm, as pictured
Carnival Chairman Phil New told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "It was
the first time in the carnival's history that the carts arrived
so early in Burnham, so it did require some re-planning on our
part, but the team pulled together really well."
"We feel sorry for North Petherton having to cancel its
event and our thoughts go out to all those affected by the M5
All the carnival carts are now in Queen's Drive and the Frank
Foley Parkway, both of which are temporarily closed until around
11.30pm after Monday's Burnham Carnival.
