Eyes to the skies! Burnham Sailing Club holds winter crane-out

-

Over 20 yachts were raised into the skies above the River Brue in Burnham-On-Sea early on Sunday morning (October 2nd) during the annual spectacle winter ‘crane-out’.

Organisers from Burnham’s Yacht Club took advantage of the high tide and calm weather to proceed with the five hour tradition of moving vessels out of the river into the club’s boat yard.

The event happens each year at this time and marks the end of the summer sailing season.

The boats are moved into safe storage in the Sailing Club’s boat yard during the winter months and then craned-in during April at the start of the spring sailing season.

Two huge cranes towered over Burnham’s skyline during the work, which started early on Sunday morning.
