Group’s sponsored knit raises £200 for Burnham arts festival

-

Members of Highbridge and Burnham Artists (HABA) raised £200 by swapping their painting brushes for knitting needles on Saturday (March 19th).

The group, pictured, held a sponsored knit at Burnham Community Centre in Berrow Road to raise funds towards holding their annual arts festival, which takes place from July 15th-17th in Apex Park.

Organiser Lesley Filce told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Following goverment arts cutbacks, HABA’s funding has been cut and we need to raise funds to continue our work.”

“During our sponsored knit we made a number of squares that form a chess board in line with the Alice in Wonderland theme of this year’s summer arts festival. The finished throw will be displayed in shop windows in Burnham and raffled later in the year to raise further funds.”
