Burnham-On-Sea’s Centre of Somerset Skills and Learning will be throwing open its doors to the public today (Wednesday, July 20th) when it holds an open day featuring a wide range of free activities.
The event at the centre in Princess Street will run from 12.30pm-4pm and will offer scores of free workshops for visitors to try.

Watercolour Painting 3:00-3:30pm
RHS (Royal Horticulture Society) 3:00 – 4:00pm
Nordic Walking 3:00 – 3:30pm
IT tutor available for help: 1:00 – 3:30pm
The activities include popular courses, such as watercolour painting, sugarcraft and pilates, plus new opportunities such as sequence dancing, horticulture, mosaic making and nordic walking.
The centre is currently offering a 10% discount for those who enrol on its courses during the open day or before the end of July.
“With the cost of living on the rise again, we want to really make a fuss that our courses are cheaper if people take advantage of this discount,” the centre’s administrator, Tracey Kingsland Bonshor, told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
“The offer is only available until the end of the month, though, so this open day is a great opportunity to try something new and enrol before the offer ends.”

The Somerset Skills and Learning centre use to be home to Burnham Infants School before its new premises were built in Winchester Road and the centre’s staff are also inviting those who attended the school to re-visit during this week’s open day to share their memories.
“We know so little about the previous life of the school and would really like to discover some of the history and stories that happened in the past from the thousands of pupils who would have studied here,” one of the centre’s tutors, Ade Bowen, told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
