Students’ bag packing at Burnham supermarket collects £1,276

-

A group of fundraising students from Highbridge’s King Alfred School this week raised over £1,000 by packing bags in a Burnham supermarket.

The group of 14 youngsters from the school are aiming to raise £14,000 to enable them to go on a once-in-a-lifetime educational trip to Morocco next year.

The bag pack at Burnham’s Morrisons store in Pier Street raised £1,276 towards the total.

“We’re very grateful to everyone who supported us during the bag packing and to Morrisons for letting us do it,” one of the group, Curtis Sanders, told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

The educational trip they are hoping to go on consists of ten days living out in the Sahara desert trekking through the Torda gorge and experiencing what life is like in one of the most secluded places on Earth.

Their next event on September 21st is a football match when a ‘celebrity’ team will take on Mr Owen’s XI. Among those playing will be Bristol City’s Scott Murray.

Burnham-On-Sea.com will continue to follow the group’s fundraising efforts.
