Wildlife charity near Burnham-On-Sea issues appeal for volunteers

-

East Huntspill’s Secret World Wildlife Rescue Centre has this week issued an appeal for more animal lovers to become volunteer animal carers at weekends.

The charity says it needs many more willing hands to help look after the dozens of injured or orphaned animals and birds being reared and nursed back to health.

Prospective volunteers should be 16 years of age or over, not squeamish, and ready and willing to muck in and work as part of a busy team.

Besides feeding, volunteer duties include cleaning out and helping to rehabilitate birds and animals back to the wild.

Charity founder Pauline Kidner told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “When you realise that our rescued birds alone need to be fed by tweezers or on the end of a paintbrush every one or two hours, you can appreciate just how time consuming our work can be.”

“Secret World is ideally looking for people who can volunteer for a minimum of four hours at a time on Saturdays or Sundays.”

Those interested should call Secret World on 01278 783250 or by email at: volunteer@secretworld.org
