Wedmore man fined £750 for failing to have shotgun licence

A man from Wedmore who was charged with possessing a shotgun without a firearms certificate during the police probe into a spate of swan shootings in the Burnham-On-Sea area earlier this year has been found guilty.

Shane Alway, 37, appeared before Bridgwater Magistrates Court on Tuesday (May 10th) where he was fined £750 and ordered to pay court costs of £95. He pleaded guilty to possession of a shotgun without a licence.

Separately, two men who were originally arrested in connection with the swan killings were released without charge. As previously reported by, dozens of swans were found dead earlier this year after being shot.
